India declares ‘Delta plus’ Covid variant to be of concern

The new “Delta plus” strain of Covid-19 carries the K417N mutation which makes vaccines less effective. However, Professor Francois Balloux (UCL Genetics Institute) says none of the other variants carrying the mutation have been particularly successful so far.
