In a letter to the editor Dr Paul Dorfman, Honorary Senior Research Fellow (UCL Energy Institute), writes in relation to the Fukushima nuclear disaster that long-term, large-scale epidemiological studies have identified "late-onset effects of exposure to ionising radiation on the human body - such as increases in cancer, leukaemia, heart disease, and a range of other health impacts."
