MyAppraisal goes live today for Professorial and Academic, Research, and Teaching staff

13 February 2025

We’re excited to announce that MyAppraisal, UCL’s new digital appraisal tool within the Thrive platform, is available today (13 February) for Professorial and Academic, Research, and Teaching staff.

What to expect

All appraisees for the Professorial (Non-Clinical Professors, Professors (Teaching), & Professorial Research Fellows) and Academic, Research, and Teaching pathways will be automatically assigned an appraisal today. An email notification will be sent from noreply@ucl.ac.uk with a link to MyAppraisal.

Please note that appraisers will have no actions to complete for their appraisees until they have received a Part A submission.

Find out more about how to prepare with the key information for appraisees and appraisers. For professorial staff who have used the system before, find out what’s new for 2025

Clinical staff

For this first year, all those on clinical staff codes will follow the Academic, Research, and Teaching pathway. This does not include Consultant Clinical Academics who should continue using current processes whilst further discovery work is ongoing to better understand their needs for appraisals.

Integration of evidence data within MyAppraisal

We are continuing work on the integrations of evidence data (publications, grants, and research student supervision) within MyAppraisal. It is likely that these integrations will be available towards the end of February.
However, to allow colleagues to start their appraisal should they wish, we are launching the above pathways today. We will share a further update via a pop-up message within the system once the data is available and can be added to an appraisal.

E-learning and system support

To support colleagues with annual appraisals, a new Appraisals at UCL e-learning module is now available. All colleagues involved in the appraisal process are encouraged to review the e-learning which is available via LearnUpon.

Video tutorials and FAQs are now available on the appraisals SharePoint. Further step-by-step guides will be uploaded soon.

If you require technical support, this can be accessed by submitting a support request through MyServices.

Retrieving historical appraisals from PAR

The previous Professorial Appraisal Review (PAR) system is due to be archived shortly. If professorial staff require a copy of any historical appraisals from PAR, we are advising that these are downloaded before 28th February.

Feedback

For any colleagues who have started to use the system, we’d love to hear your initial thoughts via our short two question survey.
