This year the UCL Student Funding Team, together with UCL’s Students’ Union and external partners, are hosting a range of events for this year’s National Student Money Week. Taking place from Monday, 3 March until Friday, 7 March 2025, this year’s theme is ‘Survive and Thrive: Building Financial Resilience’.

If you’re thinking about applying to study a postgraduate degree, but have concerns about funding, Luke Blaxill from GradFunding will be discussing different opportunities available. Taking place at 3pm on Thursday, 6 March in Bentham House, 124 Gideon Schreier, Luke will explore what schemes may help you secure postgraduate funding to help you during your studies. Free refreshments will also be on offer, and you can register your place here

On Wednesday, 5 March at 2:30pm, join the founder and CEO of Blackbullion, Vivi Friedgut, as she reveals the secrets to getting rich slowly, and identifies key tips to building personal wealth. Blackbullion is a dedicated financial platform that aims to help students manage their money. There will be a range of Blackbullion freebies on offer at the talk in the Gustave Tuck Lecture Theatre, alongside free refreshments. Register to attend here

If you’re looking for more personal advice, join our Student Funding Advisors on Thursday, 6 March in the Student Centre for private finance workshops. During each 30-minute session, you can discuss any questions or concerns you may have about your personal financial situation, and explore funding schemes, scholarships, or ways to improve your credit score. Appointments are available from 10am until 4pm with a UCL student funding advisor, and be booked by emailing Josh Du Sautoy.

If you can’t make it onto campus, credit reporting company Experian will be joining the Money and Budgeting team from UCL’s Students’ Union for a special virtual event discussing credit scores. What is a credit score? How does it work, and why is it important? Sign up to attend using this link on Friday, 7 March at 11am to increase your financial capability and find out more during this exciting workshop.

Student Funding Manager Josh Du Sautoy will be answering all financial questions and queries on the UCL Funding Instagram channel on Friday, 7 March. Do you need tips to help you spend less and save more? Perhaps you want to find additional ways to help fund your studies? Send your questions through the Instagram page, or submit through Ask UCL as a funding query.

Finally, don’t miss the chance to showcase your financial knowledge by entering the National Student Money Week quiz. Simply answer five questions to be in with a chance of winning a £50 voucher. The quiz is open now, and can be entered by filling out the online form. The deadline for applications is 5pm on Wednesday, 5 March, with the winner announced on the UCL Funding Instagram channel on Friday, 7 March. Good luck!
