Screening of the State Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at the Bloomsbury Theatre

15 September 2022

Arrangements have been put in place for early arrival and returning students, as well as staff working on campus, to view the State Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Bloomsbury Theatre seating

The Bloomsbury Theatre will be showing a live stream of the State Funeral on Monday 19 September.

The theatre will be open from 10:30-1pm. The funeral will commence at 11am.

This opportunity is not ticketed and seats will be allocated on a first come first served basis. The bar in the theatre will be open serving non-alcoholic refreshments. The Refectory and Student Centre cafes will also be open for students and staff.

Members of our Student Support and Wellbeing team will be attending the screening to offer support and help with any accessibility requirements.

UCL is observing the National Day of Mourning and all teaching and events planned for the day have been cancelled. We are very grateful to UCL staff who have volunteered to help support this event.

The passing of The Queen represents a time for reflection and, for many of us, of deep sadness. Moments like this affect people in different ways and we know that the UCL community will come together to offer their deepest sympathies. We ask that all those attending the screenings are mindful of the solemnity of the occasion.

Other opportunities to view the funeral ceremony

As well as full coverage of the event on all major UK TV channels the ceremony will be shown at a large screen in Hyde Park. Some Curzon, Arc and Vue cinemas will be open specifically to screen the State Funeral. There is no cost to attend the cinema viewings but booking in advance is recommended.
