Analysis: Discovering a potential ‘tipping point’ for Congo’s tropical peatland

The waterlogged peatlands in the Congo basin store vast amounts of carbon, but a new analysis of their history found they’re at risk of releasing that back to the atmosphere if the climate dries, warns Professor Simon Lewis (UCL Geography) writing in Carbon Brief.
