The university is ranked 20th in the world - a jump of two places compared with 2020 - placing it in the top 4% of the 679 universities assessed in the rankings.

The results place UCL as fourth in Europe, third in the UK behind Oxford, which came seventh, and Cambridge, which came 11th, and firstin London.

The QS rankings focus on how well global universities prepare students for life after graduation on a range of indicators, including rating employer partnerships, alumni outcomes and graduate employment rates.

UCL scored particularly highly for employer reputation, with a score of 98.7 out of 100, placing the university at 12th in the world. The metric is based on over 75,000 responses to a survey of employers asked to identify the institutions from which they source the most competent, innovative, effective graduates.

The university also performed well on alumni outcomes, coming fourth in the UK. This is based on an analysis of the outcomes of 40,000 of the world’s most innovative, creative, wealthy, entrepreneurial, and/or philanthropic individuals to establish which universities are producing world-changing individuals.

Karen Barnard, Director of UCL Careers, said: "It is fantastic to see UCL in the top 20 of universities worldwide for employability, and indeed third in the UK. This is testament to the incredible reputation that UCL has with a wide range of employers, the fact that UCL students are so highly sought after across the sectors and the number of events offered to bring employers and students together."
