Most legal restrictions have been lifted from Monday 19 July – find out more about updated guidance for UCL staff, students and visitors on campus.

On 19 July, the Government lifted restrictions in line with Stage 4 of the roadmap

In line with Government guidance and advice from UCL’s Public Health Advisory Panel, some coronavirus restrictions have been lifted on campus. We are keeping a number of measures in place to protect you and the wider UCL community on campus:

  • All remaining one-way systems are being removed and social distancing requirements have been relaxed, which means most spaces can return to their normal capacity. It will take some time for the Estates team to reopen all spaces and update signage on campus. The Estates website is being regularly updated to show the latest information about the status of buildings.

  • Staff who have been working remotely may start returning to campus, but we do not expect everyone back onsite at this stage. From September, we expect all remaining staff to return to campus for at least part of the time. More information can be found on the Working on Campus webpages

UCL is committed to looking after everyone’s mental and physical wellbeing and ensuring staff and students still protect themselves and others. Your health and wellbeing are paramount, and we are working hard to make sure all our buildings and spaces are as safe as possible. We are continuing to follow UK Government guidance, as well as the expertise of our researchers, including specialists in health, education, human behaviour and infection prevention.

Colleagues who have been shielding or feel anxious about people getting too close may choose to wear a Please Give Me Space lanyard or badge. Please look out for these and be mindful of people’s wishes. Disabled or clinically vulnerable staff can find out more about support available on UCL’s Coronavirus webpages

When you are on campus, please remember:

  • You must stay at home if you feel unwell;

  • You are expected to bring a face covering to wear on campus in indoor spaces;

  • You should get tested for COVID-19 twice a week even if you don’t have symptoms;

  • If you do have symptoms you must self isolate and immediately and order a test from the NHS. You should also report your symptoms via UCL Connect to Protect and NHS Test and Trace – find out more

  • You are encouraged to get vaccinated for COVID-19 and flu when you are eligible;

  • You should wash your hands frequently. Hand sanitiser is freely available on campus.
