Using UCL Libraries this term

You can book study space, collect and return print books and access online resources this term through Library Services.
UCL libraries are open, and we will adopt Government guidance as we provide you with access to books, study spaces and other in-library facilities. Due to the safety guidelines in place to keep you safe, there will be some restrictions and services might change. We recommend that you check the Library Essentials guide to find out about how Library Services can support your research and study.
Using Study Spaces
You can book to study in a number of libraries and study spaces, including the Student Centre, Main, Science and IOE Libraries and additional Study Space in Bidborough House and 1-19 Torrington Place, and more. Please check our Opening Hours webpage for the latest information about the opening times of specific libraries.
You will need to book ahead to use a study spaces. The number of available study spaces has been reduced from normal capacity, to allow for social distancing and to keep you safe. You can now book one time slot per day in our Libraries and study spaces, up to 14 days in advance. For more guidance on how to book, please go to the Library Services webpages.
Finding and using library resources
You can access print books through our Click and Collect Service . Books requested in this way will be held for you to collect and borrow within 3 days. Please bring your confirmation email with you to gain access to the library.
You can request chapters of books or journal articles that are held by UCL Library Services to be scanned and emailed to your UCL email address through the Scan and Send service.
Library Services also provides access to a wealth of online resources, which are available 24/7. You are advised to make use of our online resources, which you can access anywhere, via the Library Services website, using your UCL userid and password.
Library skills training and support
Our expert staff offer training, support and guidance for you in using the library and developing your information literacy skills.
LibrarySkills@UCL guides will help you develop or further refine your library skills, whether you are just getting started, working towards an assignment or carrying out independent research.
We will continue to monitor our services and we welcome feedback to ensure that we support your study and research and are able to provide safe access to spaces, resources and support during the current time.
