London moves to Tier 2 (high) COVID-19 alert: What you need to know

15 October 2020

Additional restrictions come into place from 16 October for the London area, as the Government has announced a move to a Tier 2 (high) alert level for COVID-19.

UCL part of U7 Alliance of leading global universities

The Government has confirmed that universities and schools should remain open, and UCL’s campus will remain open with safety measures in place. Any in-person teaching that is currently scheduled will go ahead as planned, and you should attend any classes you have on campus as normal, while continuing to follow the guidelines for safety on campus.

However, there are now restrictions on meeting others indoors if you are from different households. Students should be aware that, from midnight on Friday 16 October, there should be no mixing of households in indoor spaces.

For UCL Halls, a household is defined as people you share a kitchen with (and a bathroom where applicable).

From Friday night, please ensure that you stay within your own households, and continue to follow safety guidance at all times. This includes:

  • Keeping a social distance of 2 metres
  • Regular hand washing
  • Wearing face coverings
  • Using the one-way systems.

Please also report any coronavirus symptoms using UCL’s Connect to Protect tool.
