Please support The Leadership Race 2020, 16–20 March 2020

11 March 2020

Please do everything you can to support the Students' Union leadership elections from 16–20 March, writes UCL President & Provost Michael Arthur.

Message from the Provost about coronavirus

Students’ Union UCL plays a crucial leadership role in our work to improve the student experience, and I’ve been fortunate to work with an exceptionally committed and knowledgeable sabbatical team this year.  I’m writing to ask you to do all you can to support the Leadership Race 2020 as students campaign to take on these key roles for 2020-21.

Campaigning in The Leadership Race 2020 will begin in earnest on Thursday 12 March, and you can expect to see walls of flyers about campus as students set out their stalls. It’s shaping up to be the largest election ever at UCL, with over 1,000 positions available: students will not only put their hats in the ring for sabbatical positions, but also for the hundreds of clubs & society Presidents, Captains and Treasurers roles that keep the Union running each year.

You can help by encouraging students to vote and being generally supportive of the elections. There’s a specific ask for those of you who run modules and programmes: please post a message about the elections on course Moodles, and allow students running for a leadership post to speak to their peers briefly at the start of a lecture, if they ask permission to do so.

Voting is open for a single week – 16–20 March, with results at 6pm on 20 March. Your support is greatly appreciated!
