UCL statement on Term 4 accommodation fees

7 April 2020

Advice to postgraduate students living in UCL accommodation.

Students

UCL has taken the decision not to charge Term 4 (summer term from 20 June to 16 Sept) accommodation fees for Postgraduate students who will not be living in UCL halls in Term 4. This applies to those residents who have already checked out from 13 March or are planning on checking out by the end of Term 2 (25 April). UCL had already announced on 20 March to not charge Term 3 accommodation fees for students who will not be living in UCL halls in Term 3.

We understand that this a period of uncertainty which is unsettling for our students and are aware of the pressures and anxiety that is being caused by current circumstances. The safety, health and wellbeing of our students are of the utmost importance to us and we are committed to doing everything we can to support our students. UCL is in regular contact with Public Health England and it is our policy to follow their advice.

We are contacting all Postgraduate students directly with details.

UCL also fully recognises the Government’s advice for students remaining at university in England to now stay where they are and not attempt to travel and will continue to provide safe housing for those students who are unable to leave UCL accommodation. No-one will be asked to leave if they have no alternative accommodation.

UCL’s full range of support and wellbeing services including financial assistance are still available to all of our students. This support can be accessed anytime via askUCL
