Construction work starting on Gower Street on Wednesday, 10 April

9 April 2019

Camden Council is due to start construction work on Wednesday, 10 April, on the pavement outside the Cruciform Building on Gower Street.

UCL Wilkins Building

The work is part of “The West End Project”, a project by Camden Council to improve roads, cycleways and pedestrian areas in the West End of London, including UCL’s Bloomsbury campus.

The work outside the Cruciform Building will be the first stage of a project that will eventually see the pavement along all of Gower Street widened and cycleways created along Gower Street. When this work has been completed, Gower Street will become two-way. Work on this section is expected to last for 4-6 weeks – students should be aware, in the meantime, that there may be some noise and disturbance.

As part of the same project, the traffic along Tottenham Court Road is due to change to two-way over the Easter weekend – you should look both ways and take extra care when crossing.

You can find out more about other work taking place as part of the West End Project, on the UCL Estates website.
