UCL is the best place in the world to study Ophthalmology, Behavioural Studies and Experimental Psychology

According to the 2017 Centre for World University Rankings (CWUR)  rankings by subject, UCL Faculty of Brain Sciences is the best place in the world to study ophthalmology, behavioural studies and experimental psychology.

Number 1 place to study - CWUR We are also the second best place globally to study neurosciences, neuroimaging, multidisciplinary psychology and clinical neurology, with many other of the subjects we teach featuring in the top 10:
  • First: ophthalmology, behavioural studies and experimental psychology
  • Second: neurosciences, neuroimaging, multidisciplinary psychology and clinical neurology
  • Third: linguistics and psychology
  • Fifth: psychiatry
  • Sixth: psychoanalysis psychology
  • Tenth: developmental psychology

CWUR is unique in that is measures the quality of education and training of students as well as the prestige of the faculty members and the quality of their research, without relying on surveys and university data submissions.

The CWUR Rankings by Subject rank the world's leading universities in 227 subject categories, based on the number of research articles in top-tier journals. Data is obtained from Clarivate Analytics (previously the Intellectual Property and Science business of Thomson Reuters).

Other metrics used to create the rankings include publication influence and citations, patents, quality of faculty members, including Nobel Prize and other prize winners, alumni employment and quality of education.
