Spotlight on Lucia Beltrame

25 May 2017

This week the spotlight is on Lucia Beltrame, Events Officer in the Office of the Vice-Provost (Development).

What is your role and what does it involve?

I'm Events Officer in the Office of the Vice-Provost (Development). It's a varied role that involves liaising with a number of stakeholders to help deliver events for our donors and alumni.

How long have you been at UCL and what was your previous role?

I've been working at UCL since January 2016 and have absolutely loved it so far! Previously, I have worked at the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) in a similar capacity.

What working achievement or initiative are you most proud of?

I am most proud of being part of the team during a very exciting time, now that we are launching the It's All Academic Campaign and Festival, to celebrate philanthropy and engagement at UCL.

Tell us about a project you are working on now that is top of your to-do list.

Our team is really busy at the moment juggling several high profile events, but what's really taking up most of our time is the It's All Academic Festival

This will be held on 10 June and will be packed with interesting events and activities across the whole of campus. If you haven't already, I recommend taking a look and booking yourself on a few of the events

What is your favourite album, film and novel?

It's really hard to say... I try to keep an open mind and listen to, watch and read as much as I can!

What is your favourite joke (pre-watershed)?

"What cheese do you use to hide a horse?"
"Mascarpone!"

Who would be your dream dinner guests?

I feel I'd be too nervous to have anyone too famous for dinner - I'd rather just be with my friends and family!

What advice would you give your younger self?

Don't worry about a thing, 'cause every little thing is going to be alright.

What would it surprise people to know about you?

I love travelling and have been to 29 countries and hitchhiked across Europe.

What is your favourite place?

A hammock on the beach by the lake near Rome, where we have our holiday home. Swinging in the shade with a warm wind and the sound of the waves in the background.
