Interested in politics and democracy? Volunteer with Fantasy Frontbench

17 May 2017

Fantasy Frontbench: interested in politics and democracy? fantasyfrontbench.com/" target="_self">Fantasy Frontbench a not-for-profit project that aims to present political information in an engaging and accessible format for the general public, is looking for volunteers with skills in the following areas; research, graphic design, social media marketing and journalism, as well as PR and events.

Launched during the run-up to the 2015 general election, Fantasy Frontbench is an interactive online tool aimed particularly at young people and those intimidated by traditional political media. UCL Public Policy is the official academic partner for the project.

A twist on the popular fantasy football concept, users create their own cabinet of 22 ministers, sorting and selecting them on key parameters such as education and experience, as well as how they have voted in Parliament on major issues like NHS reform, EU integration and university tuition fees. Once selected, they are given a graphical breakdown of the data and are able to share and debate their selections via social media.

Volunteer opportunities

With a number of exciting developments on the horizon, the team is currently looking for volunteers to work on the main website, as well as a number of spin-off tools and services.

These include: a Fantasy Frontbench blog, which will focus around votes in parliament and the political process; live panel debates, which will be broadcast live and reflect current parliamentary policy issues; a range of freely available educational resources for schools and universities; as well as a number of spin-off digital democracy online services.

Fantasy Frontbench is looking for volunteers who are willing to commit at least one hour per week, in the following areas.

If you feel you have the enthusiasm and skills to work on the project, they would love to hear from you.
