Take part in a study on public Wi-Fi and receive up to £20 in gift vouchers

UCL researchers are looking for participants to take part in a study examining user's decision to use public Wi-Fi networks.

Take part in a study on public Wi-Fi and receive a £20 gift voucher The aim of the study is to help us better understand how users make decision when using such networks.

What's in it for me?

Each participant will receive up to £20 in gift vouchers.

Who are qualified to participate?

Participants must:

  • be at least 18 years old
  • live in the UK
  • have an Android smartphone/tablets with mobile data subscription on them
  • use public Wi-Fi at public places (e.g. coffee shop, train/tube station, airports) to connect to the Internet from those devices (at least from time to time).

What do I need to do?

We ask participants to install our Android app from Google Play Store and let it runs in the background for 3 months.

The app will analyse your mobile data plan level, battery level, and names of the apps running when you use public Wi-Fi. However, no personal data about you will be collected and any data collected from your mobile device are anonymised.

This study has received an approval from UCL Research Ethics Committee (no: 8539/003).
