Enable@UCL seeking Co-Chairs

25 August 2017

Quad lit ucl.ac.uk/drupal/site_news/sites/news/files/Enable_Poster.pdf">Enable@UCL is a network comprised of Disabled Staff and those interested in promoting disability equality at UCL. It enables Disabled Staff to get to know each other, make professional alliances, offer peer support, share information and join in social events. Its founding members recognised that in an organisation as big as UCL, it can be difficult to get to know people in other departments, particularly other Disabled People.

The network also supports, through events and cultural activities, the work being led by Rex Knight and a Self-Assessment Team, to seek recognition for UCL under the Disability Standard.

The network is currently seeking two Co-Chairs to coordinate and plan its events. Becoming a Co-Chair of this group will provide a fantastic opportunity to influence UCL policy and to promote disability equality throughout UCL.

It has previously been agreed by Provost that departments and divisions "formally recognise, and value, service on UCL's equality groups as a key enabling activity to support UCL 2034. This means that staff should be given time off from other activities to contribute to these groups and this will be taken into account in workload planning and management. Performing these roles should also be recognised in the appraisal and in the promotions processes."

Interested candidates should email equalities@ucl.ac.uk with the short expression of interest form to be submitted by 15  September.

Join the Enable@UCL email network.
