Through open group discussions and drama activities, the workshop makes what could be a heavy subject feel light and the personal, reciprocal atmosphere encourages participants to empathize, and 'see' what can be an invisible illness.

Designed to break down stigmas, and help participants to recognize their own unconscious stigmas, the workshop aims to inspire young people to think critically about society's view of mental illness, and develop practical and supportive ways to tackle and maintain their own mental health, through the power of positive thinking.

Interactive workshop

Normal? started life as a play, written and performed by Ann Akin Harts the company's Artistic Director and was then developed into a film. The passion behind the personal story, and the positive reactions she received from charities such as, Rethink and Happy Soul Festival, drove Ann to develop it into an interactive workshop, Normal? Education.

The workshop incorporates film and drama with the aim to equip young people with the knowledge of the facts about mental health. For more information on the workshop, visit the Harts Theatre Company website.

This is a free event, but there are only 40 tickets available. If you are interested in attending you can book a ticket via UCL Event Ticketing or contact disability@ucl.ac.uk
