UCL Athena SWAN Award success

11 May 2016

Congratulations to the four UCL departments who have been successful in the most recent Athena SWAN awards round.

Athena SWAN Results were released last week, and we are pleased to announce that UCL Computer Science and the UCL Eastman Dental Institute received Silver awards, while the UCL Institute of Clinical Trials and Methodology and the UCL Division of Surgery and Interventional Science were awarded Bronze awards.

Athena SWAN awards recognise commitment and action in addressing gender equality in higher education. To achieve Silver, a department must evidence the impact of their activities to support the recruitment, retention and progression of women. Applicants must also show how they have been working to foster a supportive and inclusive working culture.

UCL continues to make progress in achieving Athena SWAN awards. Along with the University of Oxford, UCL holds the largest number of Silver Athena SWAN awards in the country, and is the only institution in the country to hold both an Institutional Athena SWAN Silver award and Bronze Race Equality Charter Mark award. Across UCL 30 departments hold an Athena SWAN award - 18 of which are at Silver level.

Further information and UCL applications can be found on the UCL Athena SWAN website.
