Highest ever UCL response rate to NSS, so what's next?

5 May 2016

The National Student Survey 2016 closed on Saturday and thanks to the thousands of you who took the time to share your feedback, we were able to hit our highest ever response rate of 79%, or 3,194 students.

NSS Survey 2016 This is 8% higher than the previous year for UCL and 7% above the national average.

The NSS is an opportunity for final year undergraduates to tell us about their academic experience and drive change at UCL. But gathering student feedback from across 47 departments is only the beginning of the story: What happens once the survey closes and how does your feedback have impact?

  • The results of the NSS are released in mid-August and the feedback is analysed and broken down by department and programme so that each subject area can be looked at in detail
  • As part of the ASER process each department will produce a Development and Enhancement plan and will ask students to provide input into these plans through the Staff-Student Consultative Committees
  • After the survey results have been discussed and plans developed, there are opportunities for students and staff to work together to make the changes happen, for example, via UCL ChangeMakers. This has an impact on education at UCL, from creating new processes in your department, to longer library opening hours or an earlier release of the exam timetable.
