UCLU student submission: feedback from UCL students

26 February 2016

This year the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) will carry out a Higher Education Review of UCL, assessing academic standards and quality assurance at the university.

UCLU student submission

As part of the review, UCLU has produced a student submission. This submission analysed data from a variety of sources and aimed to capture students' experiences of education at UCL across four main themes: student engagement, teaching and learning, assessment and feedback and student development and achievement.

The submission outlines a number of recommendations to UCL that UCLU believes would improve students' educational experiences at UCL, including creating a culture of partnership with students, establishing student representation on estates committees, and improving assessment and feedback. The full document is available to view online.

UCL has also submitted a self-evaluation document, drawing on more than 1,000 items of evidence. The review team will read both the student submission and self-evaluation document in advance of their visit, in order to identify areas they may wish to explore further.

The QAA review team consists of staff members and one student member from other universities or colleges in England, Wales and/or Northern Ireland. UCL's review visit will take place in May 2016.
