UCL Parents And Carers Together network event: Language skills for bilingual children

The PACT network warmly invites you to the next session as follows: Date: Thursday 18 February 2016 Time: 1pm-2pm Location: Torrington Place (1-19) B17 Basement Lecture Theatre Title: Language Skills for Bilingual Children Speaker: Dr Froso Argyri (Department of Linguistics, UCL) UCL is a large and international community with colleagues coming from all parts of the world.

Quad It is very common for families to speak several languages including their mother language and English language amongst others. Parents play a critical role in the language development of their children and therefore, this session is of direct relevance to them. The aim of this talk is to provide information about linguistic and cognitive aspects of bilingualism. Dr Argyri is a mother of two and has personal experience of bilingualism. She will discuss language development of bilingual children; factors affecting bilingual language acquisition; role of age of onset and amount of exposure to each language, etc. She will also share useful tips/suggestions with parents to develop their children's language skills.

This is an informal session and lunch will be provided. Please register by emailing m.sajid@ucl.ac.uk and cascade as appropriate.
