The UCL Centre for Languages and International Education (CLIE) is inviting module proposals for the UCL International Summer School for Undergraduates (ISSU) 2017.

UCL ISSU offers the opportunity for students from around the world to study at UCL for either three or six weeks and gain credit towards their degree programmes. UCL students are also welcome to study at a discounted rate and list successful completion of modules on their Higher Education Achievement Records (HEAR).

UCL ISSU invites proposals for modules at undergraduate levels one and two (first and second year). Modules will need to offer 45 contact hours over a three-week period through a blend of lectures, seminars/tutorials and excursions, with one non-teaching day each week.

Teaching dates for Block One are 3 to 21 July 2017 and teaching dates for Block Two are 24 July to 11 August 2017.

We would particularly welcome proposals which do one or more of the following:

  • offer an introduction to a subject area
  • view a subject from a London perspective or emphasise UCL's central London location
  • view a subject from an 'international' or 'global' perspective
  • take UCL's Grand Challenges as a reference point
  • take an interdisciplinary approach
  • integrate research components and/or an experiential dimension wherever possible.

Remuneration is at consultancy rates: £6,000 for each module developed and £85 per teaching hour (£35 for GTA's).  UCL Arena has confirmed that applicants for Associate Fellowship or Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy could use this opportunity as a case study when applying.

Further programme information and a full list of modules on offer in 2016 can be found on our website.

The deadline for submissions is 22 April 2016.

Please contact the ISSU Office at issu@ucl.ac.uk or on extension x25522 for further information or to request a module proposal form.
