United Hospitals Cup: victory at long last

19 March 2015

After more than 120 years of waiting, UCL Medical School Men's Rugby team are once again winners of the United Hospitals Cup.

United Hospitals Cup Victory

This month saw RUMS (Royal Free, University College London and Middlesex Medical Schools) beat the current holders, Imperial College London, 20-6 in a fiercely contested final.

The United Hospitals Cup is the oldest rugby competition in the world being played in 1875, some four years before the Calcutta Cup.

Dr Deborah Gill, Senior Lecturer in Medical Education and Interim Director, UCL Medical School said: "Congratulations to the whole team but especially the two finalists who played less than 72 hours before beginning their finals examinations."
