The award recognises alumni who have distinguished themselves through exemplary leadership and achievements in the professional industry and who demonstrate the highest levels of integrity and character in their professional careers.

Tina, who was nominated for the award by UCL Advances Director Timothy Barnes, currently works in Shanghai analysing the world's ports and logistics industries for Drewry, a maritime adviser.

Commenting on her win Tina said: "The knowledge I gained from my PhD research, MBA courses and life experiences in the UK have played a significant part in Drewry's success in China, having the opportunity to study and live in a multicultural environment has really helped me to flourish in my professional career."

The Education UK Alumni Awards were launched this year as a way of recognising the outstanding success in Entrepreneurism, Professional Achievement, and Social Impact by the UK's international alumni.

Judged by an expert panel appointed by the British Council, over 400 finalists were evaluated on the impact of their success, how their experience in the UK aided them in their careers and whether they possess the qualities to inspire others to study in the UK.

Professor Z Xiao Guo, Pro-Vice-Provost for China, said: "I offer my congratulations to Tina for winning the Professional Achievement Award. Tina is a wonderful credit to UCL, having not only distinguished herself through her professional achievements but also serving as an inspiration to all other international students studying at UCL."

The winners were announced at a ceremony in the Intercontinental Ruijin Hotel in Shanghai on 3 March, an event attended by HRH the Duke of Cambridge.
