Male participants wanted for a study to evaluate a new medicine

6 March 2015

Researchers from UCL's Institute of Neurology would like to recruit healthy male participants, between the age of 18 and 55, who would like to take part in a study to evaluate the effects of a new medicine on the function of the brain.

Participants needed for a study on sensory information and motor functions

To be eligible you should have normal weight and should not have been taking medicines within the past two weeks.

What does the study involve?

There will be a screening visit (60-90 minutes), three treatment periods separated by at least seven days and a final safety check visit (30-60 minutes).

Each treatment period involves the oral application of a single dose of the study medication and four test phases (each taking about 60 minutes) over one day.

In each test phase, researchers use a technique of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) that is routinely used in clinical practice. It involves the application of mild painless magnetic impulses to the head which evoke small twitches of a hand muscle. They will also ask you to fill out a questionnaire and participate in simple attention and drawing tests.

For the costs of time, travel and incidentals you will receive £320 as reimbursement.
