Alan Turing Institute: First call for Scientific Scoping Workshops
2 June 2015
The Alan Turing Institute (ATI), a joint venture partnership between UCL, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Oxford, Warwick and the EPSRC, is currently scoping scientific activity to inform the design of its scientific programme in Data Science.
As part of this exercise the ATI is issuing a first
call for proposals to organise ATI scientific scoping workshops. As an outcome
of the call, the Institute intends to support a series of such workshops. These
will serve as an instrument to establish a number of coherent research
programmes. They will also allow the ATI to assess the UK and broader
international landscape around Data Science.
Proposed workshops should relate to research areas that are core to the ATI's mission, including Computer Science and Informatics, the Mathematical Sciences, the Social Sciences, Ethics in Data Science and others. They are expected to leverage UK strengths in Data Science, and draw on expertise of the ATI as well as other international and UK academic and industry partners.
Please pass this announcement onto any UCL colleagues who may be interested. Any of us will be happy to speak in advance with colleagues developing a proposal. The guidance notes and application form can be obtained by emailing Russell Rodrigues (r.rodrigues.11@ucl.ac.uk).
