Remind students to register to vote

16 September 2014

It is important that we encourage our students to vote, as this gives them the opportunity to have a say on important issues that affect them - everything from roads and recycling in their area, to education and climate change.

The way we register to vote changed on 10 June. Now, the head of a household can no longer register everyone who lives at their address. In order to vote in any UK elections, students have to be on the electoral register. Registering takes around 5 minutes and they can fill in their details online on the GOV.UK website. In order to register to vote, students will need their National Insurance Number.

Students who prefer to register to vote via post can download a paper application form from the GOV.UK website.
