Seven questions with... Ohoud Al-Amri

23 October 2014

This week we put seven questions to Ohoud Al-Amri, MA Linguistics.

Why did you choose UCL?

I am from Saudi Arabia, where I did my undergraduate degree. I was looking to continue my studies with a master's and my university suggested UCL as one of the best universities in the world for what I wanted to study!

What is the most interesting thing you've done, seen or got involved with whilst at UCL?

I've only been here a short time but I have really enjoyed exploring campus. I also like how friendly everyone has been so far, especially the welcome staff - they have been so helpful which has made it much easier to settle in.

Where is your favourite place on campus?

I really like the Chandler House building, where my course is based - it's really modern.

Give us your top three things to do/see/go to in London:

It's my first time in London so I'm still planning things to do. Everything is so conveniently located! I'd like to go to Madame Tussauds and the London Eye, and maybe find somewhere to go skydiving!

If you were to switch departments or courses at UCL, what would you study instead and why?

Speaking to other students in my department, I would like to find out more about brain sciences and psychology as it sounds really interesting.

Who would be your dream dinner guests?

I'm a big fan of Noam Chomsky and would like to speak to him about his theories on linguistics and philosophy.

Also the current King of Saudi Arabia - King Abdullah.

What would it surprise people to know about you?

I make a really good dish - Kupsa. It's surprising because you won't find me in the kitchen - I don't cook much!
