UCL signs new agreement with the China Scholarship Council

5 February 2014

UCL has celebrated Chinese New Year with the signing of a new agreement with the China Scholarship Council (CSC).

The agreement will provide more outstanding students with the opportunity to pursue research at UCL, and aims to deepen UCL's ties with China.

The awards will cover tuition fees, an allowance to cover maintenance costs and return airfare for the students, and will be valid for up to four years.

The agreement will support up to 25 new students in total each year, with up to ten students each in the Faculties of Engineering Sciences and Mathematical & Physical Sciences, and a further five in any faculty at UCL.

Professor Xiao Guo, Pro-Provost for China said, 'The UCL-CSC scholarship agreement is a milestone that marks UCL's dedication to attract top talent from China and to empower them-with knowledge, skills, creativity and responsibility-for future development in the region and around the world.'

China is UCL's leading source of graduate research degree students and demand continues to grow. The agreement will build on existing links as well as those that are being forged with some of China's leading universities.

Visiting research students will continue to have the opportunity to spend up to 12 months at UCL through the UCL-CSC Visiting Research Student awards, which have been running for several  years.

Further information about this scheme can be found on the Scholarships and Funding page for prospective students. Application instructions for 2015/16 entry will be published later this year.
