Support for UCL students over the Easter closure
9 April 2014
As you know, UCL will be closed from 5:30pm Wednesday 16 April until Wednesday 23 April 2014.
Although UCL is closed over the Easter period, there is plenty of support still available to students. Read on to find out more:
Student Disability Services
There are links and lots of information on the Student Disability Services website to assist students.
Student Psychological Services
A student currently abroad who requires emergency assistance can contact their travel insurance provider on the emergency number +44 (0) 1273 400 850.
For further helpful information to assist them, they can visit the study abroad website's advice for students currently abroad page.
Student Funding Team
There is lots of information and useful links on the Student Funding website to assist students with any financial concerns during the Easter break.
All students will now have received their exam timetable and can access it via Portico.
If students have any concerns about sitting their exams due to illness over the Easter closure, they should consult their GP and submit a medical note to their academic department, which will qualify the incident as an extenuating circumstance.
If they have an accident or a medical condition which means they might be eligible for special assessment arrangements, such as additional writing time or rest breaks, they should seek advice from Student Disability Services in the first instance after the Easter closure.
Halls of residence
Students staying in UCL halls of residence will be able to follow the usual lines of communication for support over Easter.
There will be a duty member of staff on call every day if residents need any assistance. The staff contact details will be displayed in the hall.
Library Opening Arrangements
Further details regarding library opening times over the Easter period can be found on the Library Services site.
Things to do over Easter
UCLU's Volunteering Services Unit have activities that students can get involved in over Easter and beyond, including lots of one-off volunteering events.
Students should visit the VSU's Get Happy - Get Involved webpages for more information.
The UCLU What's On Guide has details of other events scheduled over the Easter period.
Other sources of support
In an emergency, students should always phone 999 or make their way to the Accident and Emergency Department at the local hospital.
The closest Accident and Emergency Department to UCL is at University College Hospital.
We would like to wish you all a happy Easter and thank you for your continued support.
