UCL contributes to new guidance on developing digital collections
4 March 2013
UCL has played a leading role in new guidance developed by JISC for planning and developing digital resources.
The report, Sustaining our Digital Futures, follows a cross-institutional study of digital resources at UCL, the National Library of Wales and the Imperial War Museum. The report considers the challenges facing institutions in the education and wider cultural sector, examples of good practice, and what researchers and organisations need to understand about developing sustainable digital content systems. The report also provides a number of recommendations and a health check tool for project leaders and funders to ensure the effective and inspiring legacy of their work.
Professor David Price, UCL Vice-Provost (Research), said: "It's crucial that universities like UCL are able to make the most of their digital collections, and support researchers to ensure that their research outputs are effectively used and stored. This report underlines the importance of strategic planning and leadership in the future of our digital resources."
