Key Information Sets website goes live today

Key Information Sets (KIS), a wide range of data on undergraduate courses, have gone live today on the Unistats website, bringing together information including the proportion of time spent in various teaching and learning activities, employment destinations of graduates, details of tuition fees, and the outcome of the latest National Student Survey.

The data is intended primarily for applicants seeking entry in Autumn 2013, ensuring that prospective students are able to make informed choices about higher education. 

While data on student satisfaction (via the National Student Survey) and career destinations have been available for some time, this is the first time that information on proportions of learning and teaching activity and proportions of assessment has been published this way.

Professor Anthony Smith, UCL Vice Provost (Education) said: "Providing better information for prospective students can only be a good thing, and this will enable those thinking of applying to get a lot more information about the institutions they are considering. As with university rankings, statistics can never tell the full story, and we do urge prospective applicants and their advisers to look beyond them when deciding where they would like to apply, as these numbers alone cannot fully capture the strengths of individual institutions."
