UCL top choice for Indian Jubilee Scholarship students

30 August 2012

UCL has topped the list of British universities selected by students from India who have been awarded Jubilee Scholarships.

Jubilee Scholarships enable Indian students to study a one-year Masters programme in Management, Manufacturing or Science & Technology, and include a month-long internship. The scholarships are jointly funded by the UK Government and the British Council and have been created to strengthen links between the two countries. In total, eight students from the Jubilee Scholarships programme will be attending UCL.

One of them, Tanvi Deshpande, said: "I am very fortunate to have got an opportunity to learn from the vibrant teaching community at UCL, which carries a reputation of academic excellence - I strongly believe this will help me evolve."

Another student receiving a Jubilee Scholarship was Anjul Khadria, who commented: "What attracted me towards UCL is the world class facilities and an environment that will help me to achieve my goals. I have always wanted to do research in nanotechnology and its application in the medical field, so I have the chosen MSc in Nanotechnology and Regenerative Medicine at UCL. It is an interdisciplinary course and is unique in Europe".

Arvind Vepa (UCL International Office), explained: "We are extremely delighted to learn that, following a competitive all-India selection process, eight UCL students have been selected for the prestigious Jubilee Scholarships to pursue their studies from September 2012. UCL continues to be a popular choice with high achieving Indian students. Our reputation for outstanding academic and research excellence and our long-standing links with India dating back to the 1880s contributes to this popularity".

Arvind is scheduled to visit India in November to provide information and advice to prospective students and applicants. For more information, please visit the link below.
