Online pre-enrolment for all new students

20 July 2011

For 2011/12 all new students will be required to complete the majority of the enrolment process before they arrive at UCL.

helpdesk This will reduce time spent in queues, simplify the transition into UCL, and provide us with an earlier indication of who to expect.

The pre-enrolment service provides new students with the opportunity to:

  • Obtain their UCL userid and password
  • Check and update key personal information on their student record
  • Ensure that all details regarding their programme or course fees are correct before they commence their studies
  • Pay fees or confirm sponsorship
  • Accept UCL's academic and financial regulations, the Data Protection statement and view the 'UCL - Student Relationship' document

On completion of pre-enrolment new students will receive an appointment via email to complete the enrolment in person to verify their identity, confirm their registration and obtain a UCL ID card.

Departmental communications to new students

All we ask academic departments to do is to be aware of the new arrangements, update your communications for new students, and refer to the UCL website for the most up to date information.

Collaboration

Registry and Academic Services, ISD, Library Services and Finance have been working together to continue to develop improvements to the new student experience. The online pre-enrolment service was successfully piloted in January 2011 and a subsequently rolled out to new students enrolling since January. We are now pleased to announce the launch of an online pre-enrolment service for all new students.

The nitty gritty...

From August new students will be emailed with instructions for obtaining their UCL userid and password via the Online User Registration service. Their userid and password will then allow access to Portico to complete the pre-enrolment.

If you have any questions about this service or opening of session arrangements for 2011-12 please contact newstudents@ucl.ac.uk.
