  • National 'Beacons for Public Engagement' scheme

  • The UCL Public Engagement Unit has new Beacon Bursaries funding available for projects that bring the public and the UCL community together.

UCL staff and research students are invited to apply for up to £1,500 for activities that will connect their research, teaching or learning with people outside UCL

Dr Hilary Jackson from the UCL Public Engagement Unit explained: "This funding is a great way to connect people outside UCL with our research or teaching. It's designed to give UCL staff and research students an opportunity to test out a new idea, with support and advice from UCL Public Engagement and to help extend their networks within and beyond UCL."

Beacon Bursary awards are competitive, which means applicants are required to fill in a short application form to apply. To apply and for further information, please visit the link at the top of this page.

The Beacon Bursaries are administered and supported by the UCL Public Engagement Unit. This unit is funded as part of the Beacons for Public Engagement initiative, funded by HEFCE, Research Councils UK and the Wellcome Trust.

Please note: The deadline for Beacon Bursary funding applications is Monday 28 February 2011.
