UCL on iTunes U has a new layout which makes content easier to search and displays relevant content to users.
It also means layouts can be customised for iTunes desktop and the iPad. The same will soon also apply to the iPhone & iPod Touch.
Other new features of the site include:
- improved layout and flatter structure, making content easier to find
- new graphics and images from Learning & Media Services photographers
- user ratings & reviews
- a function for sharing content on social networking platforms
Ralph Bartholomew (UCL Web Services) explained: "This is a real milestone for UCL's iTunes U presence and re-establishes the university as a global leader in new media. Our enhanced site gives users worldwide the opportunity to download a variety of content to their desktop or mobile device. With the new site, users can now add their reviews and share interesting content with their social network."
iTunes U is a part
of Apple's iTunes store that offers educational content free of charge from
institutions around the world. Users can download content directly to their
desktop computer, iPhone, iPad or iPod.
UCL Context:
UCL was one of the first universities in the UK to join iTunes U in 2008. The site now includes a huge range of UCL audio and video content available to download worldwide.
