The Culture@UCL competition entries highlighted on the UCL homepage this week are:

  • 'Josh's Accordion' by James Skuse (UCL Chemistry). "A photo of Josh Elliot, member of The Joker and the Thief, a UCL band taking part in the 2009 UCLU Battle of the Bands final. The band went on to win the competition, which is organised by UCLU Live Music Society in association with UCL Friends of MSF."
  • 'Beyond UCL Campus' by Beth Turner (UCL Anthropology). "As part of a continuing working relationship with Mikwano Children's Trust Uganda, UCLU Netball Club donated our old Netball dresses to the charity, who took them across in January. The reception they received when donated to young girls at an orphanage who have no personal possessions pf their own was amazing. The girls all wanted one and are shown in the photo proudly displaying their new dresses."
  • 'When it snows' by Helen Huang (UCL Laws). "Culture at UCL is very much about people. Taken in the UCL main quad, this photo demonstrates the playful side of students during an unexpected snowfall last year. It represents a culture at UCL that is both lively and dynamic at the same time, regardless of season or circumstance."
  • 'Object Retrieval' by Magdalena Nieduzak (UCL Italian). "Object Retrieval bus during the project set up by the UCL Museums and Collections with Joshua Sefaer in October 2009."
  • 'I Connect' by Kaja Scheliga (UCL Computer Science). "A group of friends from across the world."
