Ear Institute & RNTNEH Fellowships
16 July 2010
The Ear Institute and Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital have won a clean sweep of Fellowships at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
All four surgical trainees who applied were funded.
This year saw the most applications ever made, 123 from all branches of surgery across the UK and the fewest shortlisted (35) for twelve years. It was also the year in which the fewest were awarded since the programme began in 1991, with just 15 awards made. The Ear Institute's haul of over a quarter of these reflects the immense amount of preparatory work undertaken by these young surgical trainees (unfunded and in their spare time), and the sheer quality is of the men and women training under the UCL Partners umbrella. Their research projects, all in the fields of regenerative medicine, nanotechnology and transplantation sciences, fields in which RFHT and UCL excel, will commence in October 2010.
