  • Professor Munoz-Dardé
  • Professor Véronique Munoz-Dardé (UCL Philosophy) will deliver her inaugural lecture 'Why should you pay for the BBC?: Common Goods and Shared Needs' on Thursday 7 May at 5:30 pm.

The lecture will explore the philosophical arguments for the funding of cultural goods such as museums, universities and the BBC.

Professor Munoz-Dardé said: "This argument starts from a problem, namely: how can certain cultural goods such as the BBC or higher education make a claim on our joint resources when there are other urgent needs to be met (e.g. health needs). The short answer is that these cultural goods are common goods. While they do not meet any individual's basic needs, they do meet our shared needs in society for such common goods."

The lecture will take place in Cruciform Building, Lecture Theatre 1. All are welcome.
