UCL Bartlett dominates RIBA President's Awards shortlist

  • The UCL Bartlett School of Architecture has three nominees on the shortlist for the Royal Institute of British Architects President's Awards for Research 2009.

    The awards reward and encourage outstanding research in architecture with entries assessed in terms of how they contribute new knowledge and understanding to the discipline.

    The Bartlett nominees are: 

    • Ana Araujo for her PhD thesis 'Patterning: envisioning strategies for thinking and fabricating architecture through the textile-inspired procedures of repeating, masking and scaling'

    • Dr Kristen Kreider for her PhD thesis 'Toward a Material Poetics: Sign, Subject, Site'

    • Dr Jan Birksted for his completed research project Le Corbusier and the Occult published by MIT press.

    The winners will be notified in November, and presented with their certificates at the President's Medals ceremony at the RIBA on 2 December.
