Memorandum of Understanding between Hungary and UCL SSEES

On 10 September, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Hungary and UCL SSEES for 2009-2013, to offer one postdoctoral scholarship a year to a visiting Hungarian scholar to carry out research for a period of three months. The programme will be implemented through the Balassi Institute.

Signing on behalf of the Ministry, State Secretary for International Affairs, Katalin Bogyay said that she felt that this programme marked an important and inspiring new venture in academic collaboraion and continued the long-standing working relationship between Hungary and  UCL SSEES. She looked forward to outstanding scholars coming to UCL and then returning to continue their research enriched by their experience at UCL.

Director of UCL SSEES, Professor Robin Aizlewood, passed on a message of congratulation to both sides from Professor Michael Worton, Vice Provost (Academic & International).

He echoed the words of State Secretary Bogyay on the academic benefits of the programme and was delighted to thank the Hungarian Government as the first to support this new development in academic exchange between UCL SSEES and the countries of its region.
