UCL Union ban on military presence

7 March 2008

UCL Union has passed a motion banning the military from attending student union functions.

The motion is a matter for UCL Union, which is independent of the university.

The motion has absolutely no implications for the running of the university, nor for our level of engagement with the armed forces, which will continue as normal.

Both the Army and RAF work closely with the UCL Careers Service, and are booked to attend our annual Engineering Fair as usual in October 2008. UCL has been in contact with both since news of this motion came out, to confirm that they remain welcome here now and in the future.
