Establishment of the UCL Wiley Scholarship in Publishing

10 March 2008

Steve Smith, Senior Vice President, Europe and International Development, John Wiley and Sons Ltd, and Professor Iain Stevenson, Professor of Publishing, UCL (University College London), announced today the establishment of the UCL Wiley Scholarship.

The award will be granted to an outstanding student for the MA in Publishing programme at the UCL Centre for Publishing.

The successful candidate will be selected through an interview process by Wiley and UCL representatives. The UCL Wiley Scholarship will begin in September 2008 and will cover full tuition fees for the one year course and an internship at Wiley in the UK. The closing date for the entries is Monday 31st March 2008.

"Wiley is proud to sponsor an annual scholarship with UCL's Centre for Publishing," said Steve Smith. "In a time when our industry is changing rapidly we see this as another way that Wiley can invest in the development of much-needed talent that will help shape the course of publishing in the years ahead."

"We are delighted that Wiley are generously supporting our MA programme with a prestigious scholarship," said Professor Iain Stevenson. "Since the MA course was established we have worked closely with our partners in the publishing industry to produce graduates who have the skills and knowledge to enable them to succeed in a global, fast-changing industry. Wiley's support acknowledges our central role in shaping the publishers of the future."
