  • John Wiley & Sons, Inc, the American publishing house, is supporting a scholarship for the MA Publishing programme at UCL.

The award will begin in September and will cover full tuition fees for the one-year course at the UCL Centre for Publishing, and also includes an internship at Wiley in the UK. It will go to a single outstanding candidate, selected through an interview process. The deadline for applications is 31 March.

Wiley publishes a wide range of products, including technical, medical and scholarly journals, textbooks, and online applications. Steve Smith, the company's Senior Vice President, Europe and International Development, said: "Wiley is proud to sponsor an annual scholarship with UCL's Centre for Publishing. In a time when our industry is changing rapidly we see this as another way that Wiley can invest in the development of much-needed talent that will help shape the course of publishing in the years ahead."

Professor Iain Stevenson, UCL Centre for Publishing, added: "We are delighted that Wiley are generously supporting our MA programme with a prestigious scholarship. Since the MA course was established we have worked closely with our partners in the publishing industry to produce graduates who have the skills and knowledge to enable them to succeed in a global, fast-changing industry. Wiley's support acknowledges our central role in shaping the publishers of the future."
