The official launch of UCL's Bridging the Gaps programme to promote interdisciplinary research into sustainable urban spaces, is being held on 25 June 2008.

This three-year EPSRC funding programme will make space, time, equipment and money available for researchers at UCL to interact and develop new ideas for interdisciplinary research into all aspects of sustainable cities, particularly in the context of climate change.

Speakers include Chair of the Sustainable Development Commission and Programme Director for Forum for the Future, Jonathan Porritt; UCL President and Provost, Malcolm Grant; UCL Vice-Provost for Research, Professor David Price; and UCL Principal Investigator for Bridging the Gaps, Dr Sarah Bell.

The event will take place in the Sir Ambrose Fleming Lecture Theatre, Roberts Building G06, Torrington Place from 2pm, followed by a drinks reception lasting until 6pm.

Dr Bell said: "Attendees of the launch event will learn about the programme, what it offers researchers, how it fits into UCL's Research Strategy, provide an opportunity to meet the programme directors, and to network with other members of the UCL research community."
