UCL historian wins 'Foreword Magazine' Book of the Year award

  • A book by Professor Harold Cook, Director of the Wellcome Trust Centre for the History of Medicine at UCL, has been awarded the Gold Medal in the history category of the 2007 ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Award.

    'Matters of Exchange: Commerce, Medicine, and Science in the Dutch Golden Age', published by Yale University Press, examines the role played by Dutch international trade in spreading the rise of science in the 16th and 17th centuries - an important period of enlightenment which helped to shape the modern world.
