A new measure of "digital status" - QDOS - ranks UCL President and Provost Professor Malcolm Grant third among the 20 heads of Russell Group research-intensive universities.

Created by Garlik, a provider of personal-information services, QDOS rankings reflect individuals' internet presence in terms of popularity, impact, activity and individuality.

Professor Grant's score of 3228 was topped only by the vice-chancellors of the universities of Sheffield and Warwick. Outside higher education, Garlik ranks him equal to actress Tara Fitzgerald, Viscount Rothermere of 'The Daily Mail' and Jason Orange of pop combo Take That.
