Lotus cars in the quad

Today, on the 25th anniversary of his death, UCL Engineering celebrates the contribution to automotive engineering of UCL alumnus Colin Chapman.
Alongside the array of motor vehicles is an exhibition of original Lotus designs and photographs, which is on display in the cloisters. Held in partnership with Group Lotus, the event also recognises the research connections between UCL and Lotus Engineering. Among the guests are distinguished figures from the world of motor racing, including Damon Hill, Sir Stirling Moss and Patrick Head.

Professor Buxton spoke about the contribution of Colin Chapman to motorsport, while Professor Ladommatos explained the background to the work being done by UCL Mechanical Engineering in collaboration with automotive and oil companies to develop engines and fuels that are more efficient and better for the environment.
